Chapter 78: Living Off His Father at Thirty-One

Chapter 78: Living Off His Father at Thirty-One

She waved him goodbye and climbed the staircase up to the plane. She stilled midway. She had forgotten her luggage. She jogged back down the staircase in a hurry. It would be just her luck to end up in Shanghai without any of her things.

The limo had pulled away before she could reach the last step.

She wanted to yell, but she didn\'t. She cursed her wretched luck for several minutes before realizing Mo Qingchen could ask Kevin to come back.

"What are you doing?" Mo Qingchen asked when he saw her sprint into the plane.

"Can you call your driver back here?" she asked.

"Is there a problem?" he answered smoothly.

"I left the luggage in the limo. Call the driver back and I\'ll go grab the suitcase." She grumbled under her breath.

"It won\'t be necessary. We\'re about to take off, so sit down."

"I have contracts in there," I warned him.

"The luggage is on the plane. This is what happens when you have less money and have to fly commercial," he said with the squint of his eyes.

Qian Meng gasped, offended. "Excuse me. I should remind you that you were on the same flight as me to Paris. Moreover, if you add up the total cost of traveling in commercial to your little jet, you will see that commercial is way better in terms of economy. You are simply wasting money with this," Qian Meng reasoned.

Mo Qingchen shook his head. "I used the commercial flight here because my jet was occupied. Mo Zichen went to some fancy dinner with the American President and needed the jet."

Qian Meng rolled her eyes. "You need to stop putting the blame for everything on your father. You don\'t have money to buy clothes for yourself but you have it to throw away at these luxuries." The logic made her laugh.

"I have the money to buy clothes, I just don\'t find them comfortable, that\'s all." He paused. "And my father pays for the jet."

"Eating off your father at thirty-one, eh?" Qian Meng teased.

"That\'s the least that man can do." Mo Qingchen rolled his eyes.

"How will he travel without his jet?" she asked in reply.

"Yize will take the jet back to Paris. She has to shop for clothes for the upcoming party. I think it is the Mayor\'s wedding anniversary." Mo Qingchen looked at her curiously.

She thought for a moment and sighed. "Right, that one. Everyone is invited if I am not wrong." She groaned. "God, they keep asking about weddings and babies like that is the end of life for every woman."

"And man, too," Mo Qingchen added from the side. "The Bai family is invited, too. Mr. Bai is close to the Mayor." That produced another slew of curses from Qian Meng.

"Thanks. Now I will have to cock my guns the moment I go inside that party." She looked at him in surprise. "Wait, Yize buys her clothes from abroad? What would happen if she wasn\'t going?"

Mo Qingchen shrugged. "Father would fly the jet without a passenger." He pointed towards the interior of the jet. "This is the epitome of luxury. He likes to spend the money he earns. From childhood, he told us that you only earned more money if you used the money you earned previously."

So he splurges. "That should be only relevant if he was investing all the money and not spending it. This doesn\'t look like investing." Qian Meng looked around. The interior was on-brand with the interior decoration of the house in Paris. So, this was the style Old Mr. Mo liked. "If your dad didn\'t let you use the jet for free, would you travel commercial?" she asked curiously.

"Probably not," he said. He looked at her incredulous expression. "Factoring in the timing of flights, waiting time in airports, checking, and the lack of leg space... it is better to travel on a jet."

Qian Meng thought for a bit. Mo Qingchen explained. "Well, I think it is wasteful to have such a big plane, but a smaller plane would suffice. This one has offices and a bed, completely unnecessary." He huffed. "Maintenance cost and paying the employees to a smaller jet is considerably less and I don\'t have to worry about price surges and delays. Overall, it\'s a profit."

Qian Meng didn\'t argue. She was still against the whole thing. Mo Qingchen was scarce from thereon. He disappeared into one of the rooms, it seemed. Qian Meng plopped down on the couch and waited for takeoff with a small smile on her face. She could enjoy the one-time thing while she criticized Mo Qingchen.

The engines came to life and a bolt of electricity raced through her body. The runway for the private jet was different. They hadn\'t even gone to an airport. Instead, this seemed to be a privately owned property authorized to let planes fly. Interesting.

"Welcome aboard, Miss Yun. Would you care for refreshments?" a feminine voice asked from her side. Qian Meng peeled her face from the window and spun around. A striking woman stood smiling at her.

"I\'ll take water, thank you," Qian Meng smiled back.

"My name is Yin Ah. I\'ll be your attendant for this flight. Please let me know if you need anything." Her name tag was pinned directly above the Mo Building Solutions logo on her tight-fitting uniform.

"Thank you. I will." She watched as Yin Ah walked away, her hips swayed from side to side rhythmically. She was incredibly voluptuous, like an old-time Hollywood movie star.

The outside was gloomy and she wondered if it would be the same in Shanghai.

"Qian Meng," Mo Qingchen\'s voice broke her out of the bubble.
