Chapter 214 214: The 8th Wave V
After blasting Dark Heracles\'s skull open, Cole bent down and sank his entire face into the darkling\'s brain, ignoring the disgusted and startled looks from the women. It was weird for him too, but he really could not stop himself from what he was doing. This was just like the other Baneling boss he had fought, there was just something he could not resist and had to sink his teeth into.
This fight had been one of the hardest Cole has ever had to deal with. It was one thing to have people with abilities and skills do a variety of different things to you. Cole was sure he has been frozen, burnt, crushed, chocked, smashed, stabbed, slashed, shot at, shot through, slammed and so on and so forth. But when you were up against absolute strength, there was only so much you could physically do in order to gain victory. But that being said, Cole did not even use his strongest skills, in fact since this damn Waves started, Cole has not used his most powerful skills, instead trying to use each waves as a way to refine his skills and abilities.
Cole was pretty sure the complexion of all of the waves he has fought in so far would have looked very different if [Sin Eater] and [Sin Reaper] had made an appearance. He was powerful and dangerous even to himself, but he no longer wanted to be a blunt instrument but a sharp sword, he wanted more control over himself and so far it has been quite the experience. While the last fight hadn\'t done so much in giving the experience he needed due to falling under the thrall of [Wrath Drive], he had still been able to see just how far he could push himself and his skills, and just what exactly he could do with them.
[You Have Defeated The 8th Wave! The 9th Wave Would Be Starting In 90 Minutes!]
Cole scoffed at that, an hour and a half of respite, that would not be nearly enough for him to regain even half of his energy pool. He was almost running on empty right now as he has gone back to back in dealing with all of the wave without really giving himself to regain resources. This was probably one of the advantages the Banelings would have over the living during this wave event. With his fast they kept coming, it would not be so easy to regain the resources that had been lost…. Well not so easy unless of you were an Energy, Vitality and Soul sucking demon, guess it was time to bring out the big guns.
[You Have Devoured The Power Spark Of A Being! The Skill Dark Strength Is Available For Absorption, Deconstruction Or Reconstruction, Make Your Choice Devourer!]
Cole had absolutely no use for this skill, he was definitely not as strong as the Baneling, but that was only a matter of time. [Demonic Constitution] was crazy in the sense that with every injury Cole got, his healing factor became that much stronger and that much durable that such an attack would not be able to hurt him just as bad again, until he has grown completely strong enough to counter it. It was an overpowered skill, but there was a price to be paid for it.
You needed an extremely strong mind to be able to push [Demonic Constitution] to it\'s full potential, if not all you would get is an extremely powerful healing factor and be as squishy as the rest of the normal aspirants. This was a problem that players with no defensive or physical stats of any sort would have to deal with. If for example Cole had strength instead of dexterity then he would so much stronger, perhaps even enough to match the Baneling boss punch for punch for all the strength and power he had. But without his dexterity stat he would not be as fast or be able to move as easily as he did now.
So he just chose to have the skill Deconstructed instead. If it was possible to give the spark to someone else he would have done so…..or maybe there was a way, he just needed to avoid eating the next time he comes across one.
[The Ability Dark Strength Has Been Deconstructed! +500 to all Stats, +300 Stat Points]
This Baneling boss was definitely stronger than the first, though Cole had only felt the hunger to devour the first wave boss and now the 8th. Perhaps there was a caveat to this, but he could not exactly be sure, but ultimately this was a lot of stats, especially the points which he had received. He has been accruing them for a time when he would find himself in a pinch and would have to rely on a quick boost to his stats to survive, and so far he has been lucky enough to not have used them.
But by this point Cole knew he needed more levels to his stats. The silver rank was good and all, but it was about time he took the damn thing to the next level, at the very least that should make him a little bit stronger than most by having one or two gold rank stats. Either way that meant at least that the next wave would be spent with his two most powerful skill coming out to play, with how difficult this last fight had been, training was over.
Cole nodded to himself, by this point he felt he had squeeze as much advantage as he could out of the fourth floor, and right now they had an abundance of something that he needed more than anything else, something he was not so sure he would be getting once he got to the fifth floor, and that was an inexhaustible supply of bodies. Of course there was only so much stats he could absorb before his body would not be able to take it anymore and he would need to increase his race to get the most benefit out of it.
But Cole was now a [Raen Duke] he had no idea what came next, but he dare say that his race was good enough to get his stats to the Gold rank, if not to the peak of it. It was time for him to treat this wave like the opportunity it truly was, a hunting ground for him to become much stronger, Cole had his sights on an achievement.... He wanted to be the first Aspirant to reach Gold rank, and with it, all of the havoc and drama being at that level of power will bring…. He smiled.
