Chapter 190: The Plight of Monetary-Based Systems
There was also the fact that returning to the System World with the Host as a corpse wasn’t possible. The portal won’t allow their entry.
This was the reason when a System Host was killed, the respective System took damage. And the stronger they are, the less they would be affected.
And, it wasn’t that easy to open a portal to travel to and fro the System World and the other worlds. To return to the System World, a System would have to expend a tremendous amount of Mental Energy, condensing the power to open it.
It would take time to do so, not something that could be done instantly. And if a System didn’t have enough Mental Energy to open a portal, it was stuck in that world until then.
But, travelling to a world from the System World was easier. After all, the Systems were able to do so free of cost.
To open a portal from the System World, a System only needs to gather Mental Energy from the System World. This process takes some time. And, the weaker a System was, the longer it took to gather enough Mental Energy to condense a portal.
Moreover, they also need to search for a suitable world. Everything needed time.
That was the reason the spinning top-shaped System had taken more than a quarter day to condense a Portal.
And, the reason the Money-Making System had vanished the moment Compass Carburettor and Fourth had retaliated against it was that it was prepared all along. Its destination was Earth, the coordinates of which it was aware.
Secondly, the Host too had been selected in advance—Stencil Carburettor.
And thirdly, the moment Compass Carburettor arrived at the System World, it had begun to condense Mental Energy from it. It was because the Money-Making System was a monetary-based System.
And that meant trade and the accumulation of currency, and in this sense, Mental Energy. This was the reason the monetary-based Systems were the richest among all genres of Systems, possessing Mental Energy reserves far outclassing their levels.
So, every System kept a lookout for them. A System could only consume another System from the same genre as itself. Doing so would cause its abilities to become stronger, also making its power more comprehensive.
A System that had two Core Skills could never be defeated by a System at the same level that only had one Core Skill. Moreover, once a System absorbed the Core Skills of all the Systems part of its genre, it would attain qualifications to become a Grade 2 System.
This was the inherent reason Systems from the same Genre were antagonistic to each other.
And similarly, if a System absorbs the Core Skill of a System not part of its genre, its growth would be impeded, preventing its level from ever increasing.
Though, that is only in the case if it absorbed a Core Skill on par with its level. If it absorbed a Core Skill—from a different genre—that is low levelled, then it would only sustain injuries accordingly.
That was why the Permanence System was able to store countless Core Skills in itself. And, once it extracted them all, its injuries vanished. Though, it had also expended a tremendous volume of Mental Energy to make a swift recovery.
And, here was the reason every System kept an eye on the monetary-based Systems. Using a System of this genre, they would be able to accumulate Mental Energy faster than they could normally do.
Moreover, once they accumulate enough Mental Energy to reach level 99, they could extract the Core Skill of the monetary-based System from their bodies, heal their injuries and swiftly level up, reaching the peak as a Grade 1 System.
No System would ever miss such an opportunity, one that would save them countless millennia. So, remaining in the System World was risky for the Money-Making System.
That’s why, it had begun condensing Mental Energy the moment Compass Carburettor arrived in the System World. And, once it was attacked by him and Fourth, it realised that dealing with the two would take some time.
And, that was risky. After all, if another System discovered it by then, its life would become miserable. Since if it opened a portal to a world, any System would be able to determine its coordinates and follow right after it.
So, it decisively abandoned Compass Carburettor and returned to Earth, unwilling for its position to be known. Otherwise, given the amount of Mental Energy it had amassed, it would be able to kill them both.
As a monetary-based System, it calculated the profit and loss in the scenario. And, it was easy to see that dealing with Compass Carburettor wasn’t a priority. After all, he didn’t have its Core Skill in him. All he had were simple Skills that it had bought.
So, it decisively returned to Earth, making it seem like it could travel between worlds instantly.
‘My foes don’t wish for me to reach level 99 and start to actively hunt all of them. So, they are trying to hinder me while using the chance to grow as much as possible.’ The Coincidental Luck System snorted, ‘But, they are expending more resources than me. Still, since they are acting as a group, individually speaking, their losses are less than mine.’
Upon seeing Rhizen wielding a file in the cave, it smirked, ‘In this situation, even if one treasure was taken by the foes, there are still other equally valuable treasures on Mount Craire. Even though they fought me so many times, since they cannot enter this world, my foes are unable to perceive the actual state of things. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have sent just two Hatchling Systems in the first wave.’
Since it would mess things up if the System Hosts come to find out about the existence of other System Hosts, they won’t know about the scheme running in the background.
And, if too many Systems try to target the Coincidental Luck System at the same time, the number of variables thanks to their intervention would increase exponentially.
This would only make its life easier, allowing it to easily use the chaos to deal with everyone. Hence, they only sent two Hatchling Systems first to hinder Rhizen while the other System Hosts accumulated strength in other locations.
‘Now, things will actively start to change based on your actions, Compass Carburettor.’ It thought, gazing at his surprised face through the eyes of Rhizen, ‘I guess addressing you as Secret Society would be more apt, since I can already feel the luck of the two foes rapidly fluctuating thanks to your actions.’
‘I want to see how much their luck would morph once you finalise your schemes and take action.’ It thought, laughing in response, ‘As expected, System Slayers birthed from monetary-based Systems are the best at schemes.’
